Data Protection Act

The Data Protection Act governs the storage and manipulation of personal information in electronic formats. Websites that collect email addresses or other personal information then they need to register with the Office of the Data Protection Registrar as a data user under the Act. They need to inform them what data they are collecting and why, and they always need to inform the people whose data they are collecting what purposes they are going to use it for.
